Whether or not you consider yourself to be knowledgeable about the Bible or religious, if you think back over your life, you may recognize that there have been one or more times when Bible stories have helped you deal with problems you faced.

Did you ever feel like David facing Goliath? How did you handle it?

Were you ever betrayed by a family member like Joseph was by his brothers? What did you do to get past it and move on with your life?

Did you ever feel like just "getting by" and have the story of the Talents nudge you to do your very best?

Did you ever face a decision where you knew what was right, but making that right decision, like Jesus did in Gethsemane, would mean you would have to go through horrible times? When you made that hard decision, what blessings came of it later?

After you have taken some time to consider your answers, do the thing that will make your experiences part of a living legacy. Take some time to tell your younger family members about those experiences in your life.

Telling stories about ourselves to the next generation is a way of creating an oral tradition that will leave its mark on the future. By sharing your experiences of how Bible stories and your faith have helped you through difficult times, you are equipping others with the knowledge they will need to handle the problems they will face in their lives.

Not comfortable talking about it? Don't live near them? Then get out a piece of paper (or turn on your computer) and write them a letter. In that letter, tell them your experiences and show how the lessons you learned from Bible stories have helped you. They may not think they need the information right now, but as you know, there will come a day that they will bless you for the direction and strength they found in your letter.
